I Gini: family of winemakers since 1500 so much so that studies have brought to light that in Contrada Salvarenza, this family already owned some vineyards. The knowledge has been handed down for generations to Olinto Gini, born in early 900 and father of Sandro, Claudio, Martha who today carry on this age-old tradition. Olinto farmer and winemaker with an imposing build as much as his passion for the land and the life it gave him, he had huge hands, thick and worn out from work on his land and his vines. Sometimes I wonder how it was possible that so strong and "bulky" limbs could treat a fragile fruit like grapes with so much care. He loved and cared for his lands with tradition and innovation by working in harmony with nature: were the first in 1985, and it has always been like that ever since, to vinify without the use of sulfur dioxide. This, has in fact revolutionized the world of oenology by opening up to all new possibilities and visions in the world of wine production. Contrada Salvarenza Vecchie Vigne. The name is said to come from Renza, young man who was saved by a group of brigands by a noble knight in the very place where this incredible vineyard is located. Old Vineyards: located in 150 mt of altitude, this Crù Contrada Salvarenza is located on the hills of Monteforte and is unique in the whole Soave area as the 75% of the vines have on average 80 years and the 25% of those remaining more than 100 years. This was the Gini's biggest bet: do not uproot those vines that miraculously saved themselves from phylloxera. No one owns such long-lived vines with a free foot and which are, among other things, located on land that has yes’ magnificent exposure, but which also has soils ranging from volcanic tuff to clayey carclareo. In the glass it has a bright gold color with bright green reflections. The nose is complex and deep with hints ranging from white to tropical fruit to then express sweet notes such as honey and vanilla and also a final hint of spices. On the palate it is dense, round, intense. It could be called "fat" as it is rich in sensations and evolutions. Flavors of ripe pear, yellow peach, cloves amaze at the sip for their strength and balance. Equipped with excellent structure, intrigues and tempts every taste even for the savory finish, minerals, clear and persistent. One of a kind white, it is surprising that vines that are a century old can make a wine so “easy” to understand and enjoy. Moreover, wine that can be drunk young, appreciating its freshness and minerality, as can be expected over the years. White that quietly comes to 20 years acquiring an extraordinary taste-aromatic finesse.
