Casale del Giglio is a far-sighted company. Not only did he bring to the national and international limelight the wines of an area of ​​Lazio hitherto totally devoid of viticulture with an agricultural project of extraordinary importance, but he also carried out a visionary project that transformed the plains of the former Pontine marshes into an agricultural area of ​​great interest and indisputable potential. Long years of experimentation since the 1980s with many national and international essences have consecrated it as a leading company that today - strong in 160 hectares of property – sells at excellent prices a series of exemplary wines for cleanliness, pleasantness, holding capacity over time, originality in the conception. They grew Shiraz vineyards from scratch, Viognier, Petit Verdot, Petit Manseng, Merlot, Chardonnay where no one else had ever dared. Company that counts collaborators of the caliber of Attilio Scienza – of the Institute of Arboreal Cultivation of the University of Milan – by Angelo Costacurta – of the Experimental Institute for Viticulture of Conegliano – by Fulvio Mattivi – of the San Michele all'Adige Provincial Agricultural Institute – and by Paolo Tiefenthaler, the latter historical winemaker of the company, which we still find today scrupulously supervising every production phase that is carried out in the cellar.

MATIDIA, Roman noblewoman was Trajan's nephew and Hadrian's mother-in-law. As well as statues and coins depicting his effigy, a temple was dedicated to her which is currently the church of Santa Maria in piazza Capranica( the ancient Campo Marzio) a place very dear to the Santarelli family as their business as wine merchants began there. This red is vinified exclusively with Cesanese grapes from a vineyard of 30 years in the area of ​​Olevano Romano with volcanic calcareous soil a 500 metri slm. The harvest takes place in late October when they have reached optimal ripeness in order to obtain a wine with an excellent structure and that respects the traditions of this native vine. In the glass it is ruby ​​red with garnet reflections, on the nose it expresses hints of morello cherry and light spice. On the palate it is fresh, with light tannins and on the finish it is fine and elegant. Wine that perfectly reflects the place of origin: yes fragrant but not intrusive and with an excellent minerality, deep and persistent with a certain aptitude for aging.
