The Bertani winery was born in 1857 by the brothers Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani, in Quinto di Valpantena, north of Verona. Bertani was among the first companies in Italy to understand the value of bottled wine: large investments were made immediately in the vineyards and in the cellar to bottle and export Italian quality around the world with Bertani wines, that already before the end of the nineteenth century crossed the Atlantic Ocean to be appreciated in many cities in the United States. In the mid-twentieth century, with the acquisition of Tenuta Novare, in Classic Valpolicella, Bertani concretizes the half-century long research, to produce the “Wine”, what is born to last forever. It's here, indeed, that begins the history of Amarone, wine symbol of the territory from which it is born, whose first vintage dates back to 1958. Now they count more than 200 hectares of vineyards in the most suitable areas of the Verona area and the company is divided into two cellars: one in Grezzana where the winemaking, bottling and logistics activities are based; the other in Negrar, called Tenuta Novare in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, cradle of the great reds such as Amarone and Valpolicella Classico Superiore.

CATULLO is the Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso. The grapes come from the terraced vineyards in Tenuta Novare. It is produced from Corvina Corvinone and Rondinella grapes which, in the month of March following the harvest, they are re-fermented on the marc of the Amarone Classico in order to enrich both the aromas and flavors. Subsequently, the aging takes place in French oak barrels for 12 months, more further 12 months in concrete tanks and further 6 months in the bottle. Thus was born Catullus, Valpolicella with excellent structure which in effect is a small Amarone. In the glass it is vivid and intense ruby ​​red; the nose is expressed with notes of red fruit such as cherry and black cherry with gentle puffs of vanilla, chocolate and spices. On the palate it is structured but not demanding, with pleasant smooth tannins and a fresh drink finish, soft and mineral.
