The. Agr. ORMANNI FARM
CANAIOLO 2018 igt
Located on the road between Poggibonsi and Castellina in Chianti, we have news of this farm as early as the thirteenth century when Dante mentioned the Ormanni family in his Divine Comedy and this residence was also owned by Carlotta Lenzoni de’ Medici, the one who bought Boccaccio's house in Certaldo, who then gave it to the Brini Batacchi family, in 1819. Company always dedicated to mixed cultivation, since the early years 60 engineer Paolo Brini, current owner, has transformed Ormanni passing from mixed agriculture to vineyards and olive groves and has abandoned the management of the farm through "sharecroppers" in favor of direct management. Company, whose surface "planted" is of 70 hectares with rows ranging from 30 to the over 50 years, uses all the most modern technologies to preserve the nature and ecosystem of its territory: for years it has started the protocol for the certification of organic and biodynamic production.
The Canaiolo is an ancient vine of Etruscan origin that has been used in Chianti for centuries. Historically it is found in the blend used to produce Chianti Classico with the aim of softening the angularity of Sangiovese . In Ormanni they decided to vinify it in purity to obtain a fine and elegant red, to be able to sip every day that was not "challenging". In the glass it is light ruby red, not loaded; the nose is very fragrant with hints that vary between fresh berries such as blackberries, raspberry up to hints of spice such as white pepper. On the palate it is fresh, light, with an easy and immediate drink.
