The. Agr. MASSOLINO
The history dei Massolino and their wine is linked to the history of Serralunga d’Alba in 1896, When Giovanni he founded his winery. The first cantina it was built by Giuseppe, son of the founder Giovanni, who together with his sister Angela extends the properties on the best land, It is in the 1934 is one of the founders of the Consortium for the protection of Barolo and Barbaresco. I Massolino: make wine with passion, in his territory of origin, preserving the typicality of the autochthonous vine in the belief that among the year, the hills ed i winemakers exists a bond deep and palpable, made of affinities cemented by custom to the same places. Tradition that in recent decades has been continued and developed by the sons Franco and Roberto who have acquired, in the late eighties, other land. In addition to the "classic" vineyards from which their excellent barbera comes, dolcetto, nebbiolo, the brothers added very important "Crù" vineyards which are now the flagship of this winery: DAISY, PARAFADA, VIGNA RIONDA. The extension of the properties is 24 hectares with altitudes ranging between 300 ed i 360 meters, each enjoying particular microclimates and different soils that give grapes with different characteristics.
BAROLO PARAFADA CRU‘ it is vinified only with grapes from the vineyard of the same name. PARAFADA is located in the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba at an altitude of 330 mt s.l.m. and extends for 1,13 hectares; enjoys an excellent southern exposure and is located on a hilly ridge totally sheltered from the winds with land calcareous / marly. The microclimate tending to heat, the rows of Nebbiolo da Barolo with an average age of 50 years and a winemaking that continues each for over 30 months in barrel, are the starting points for this traditional Barolo. In the glass it is intense ruby red, with violet reflections. The nose is "thick", complex with floral and spicy scents such as cinnamon and cloves. On the palate it is rich as equally austere: perfectly expresses its area of origin. The Parafada can be defined as "more introverted". It has complex tannins, which suggest that it is a wine for great aging, warm and persistent, on the finish it is elegant with notes of small red fruits. Long aging wine.
