We speak of “dei Colla” as winemakers since 1700, but the modern era began with Peter, class 1894, who learned the difficult art of bottle fermentation by a collaborator of the time who had been sent to France. The Colla family is one of the families that wrote the history of Piedmont. Beppe, Pietro's eldest son, in 1956 takes over the company of Cav. Prunotto e, when Piedmontese wines were still little known, makes it famous in the world. Moreover, participates in the drafting of the specifications of the Appellations of Alba wines and constantly seeks quality: it is the first in years 60 to vinify separately the grapes of the best positions and introduces in the label the word Crù.

The Barbaresco RONCAGLIE is a Crù vinified exclusively from the vineyard in RONCAGLIA ESTATE: located in Roncaglie (to which it gives its name) a Barbaresco, it is the best position among those that can be identified on the hillside that starts from Roccalini and climbs towards Treiso. Nebbiolo from Barbaresco, with southern exposure and biodynamic farming(like all Colla productions) extends on 13 It has totals, of which 8 vitati. In the glass it has a deep garnet red. The nose expresses exuberant and complex hints of violet rosehip and blackberry. On the palate it is rich, enveloping and intense with a very long finish accompanied by velvety tannins. Great Barolo, traditional, austere, rich and intense on the palate with great aging potential. Daniel Thomases, on Wine Spectator in January 1995: “Roncaglie is recognized as one of the best locations in the entire Barbaresco area”.
