Description

Amarone della Valpolicella docg 2016 MAGNUM

The. Agr. CAMPAGNOLA

Amarone della Valpolicella it is the wine of reference of the Campagnola company. It comes from the selection of the best Corvina Corvinone and Rondinella grapes grown in the municipality of Marano che, before being squeezed, are left to dry for about 100 days and then softly pressed with a subsequent maceration phase of 30 days. The refinement of the wine is divided by 60% in large barrels of 50 hl and the remainder in barrique and then assembled and finished with more 6 months in the bottle. The result is a rich and complex wine, with long aging potential, which is said to have been born from a mistake, an oversight. Legend has it that Amarone was born from a Recioto barrel that had been forgotten by the Cellar Master of the Cantina di Negrar. In this way the wine had gone on with the natural fermentation, transforming all the sugars into alcohol, and therefore becoming a dry wine. In the glass it has a deep garnet red, intense; the nose reveals hints of ripe red fruit such as cherry, plum and vanilla aromas, spices and almond. On the palate it is warm and velvety, full, with tannins present but not too intrusive with a very persistent dry finish.
